This CIW Web Design Specialist course, to be delivered in Limerick as a 5 Week Saturday course, is designed for candidates looking to achieve an internationally recognised certification in Web Development.

This CIW Web Foundations Associate course prepares candidates for the IDO-520 CIW exam (Foundations Associate) and is the second module in the comprehensive CIW Web Design Professional track.

This series is for anyone who wants to develop the skills necessary to specialise in Web site design.

In this course, you will build upon your basic Web authoring skills to learn the essentials and best practices of Web design, including design theory, tools and technologies and will prepare candidates for the Certified Internet Webmaster Foundations exam 1D0-520.

Course Content

 

  • Web site development essentials, including the site development process, customer expectations, and ethical and legal issues in Web development.
  • Web design elements, including aesthetics, the site user's experience, navigation, usability and accessibility.
  • Basic Web technologies, including Hypertext Markup Language [HTML], Extensible HTML [XHTML] and extended technologies, image files, GUI site development applications, and site publishing and maintenance.
  • Advanced Web technologies, including multimedia and plug-in technologies, client-side and server-side technologies, and Web databases.
  • Popular production tools, including Microsoft Expression Web, and Adobe Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash.
  • Design and development technologies, including Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Extensible Markup Language (XML), JavaScript, Java applets and Dynamic HTML.
  • Current issues in Web design, including the extensibility of design tools, compatibility of these tools, open-source applications and the functionality of current Web browsers.

Exam topics
The exam is divided into 4 broad topics.

  • Site Development Essentials; containing 11 questions.
  • Web Design Elements; containing 13 questions.
  • Basic Web Technogies; containing 26 questions.
  • Advanced Web Technologies; containing 20 questions.

The exam presents you total 70 questions. All the questions are multiple choice and should correctly answer at least 49 questions( 70%) within 75 minutes to pass the test.
